A teenage boy was found dead only a few days after being falsely blamed of taking the ashes of a deceased infant during a burglary, a coroner's inquiry has heard.

Heartbreaking Discovery

Kai Lloyd's parents found his body in his room at his Connah's Quay home on 19 November 2021.

False Allegations Start

The inquest heard how his mother received a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a woman inquiring if her son was her child. The communication added: "Inform him thanks for burgling my flat."

In a testimony presented to the proceedings, Lisa Lloyd said the woman had been in the media, claiming her infant's ashes had been taken in a burglary - a allegation which was false.

Law Enforcement Investigation

An official inquiry from police later concluded the alleged burglary victim had "provided false information" and "it now appears that the items was not taken in the first place".

News coverage about the supposed stolen ashes attracted social media comments, and although the teenager was not identified in the messages, his mother said individuals "understood it was him".

The "social media content were extremely distressing", she said.

Emotional Wellbeing Impact

She added that Kai had been diagnosed with mild ADHD, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views really were important to him.

"It would have affected him severely," she said, "particularly when this was not true".

The teenager was arrested at his residence, but no evidence was discovered. He was transported to a law enforcement facility and later released pending further inquiry.

Police said they would be in contact, the inquest heard, but had failed to reached out to the relatives by the moment of his death.

Isolation and Worry

His mother said her son "became isolated" after the arrest and "would keep asking me whether I had heard anything from the authorities", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could seem like much longer".

When she talked to him about the alleged incident, she said her son told her he had gone into the house because the resident who resided there had said he could use the bathroom whenever he wanted, but refuted removing anything.

Online Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her spouse, Mrs Lloyd said her son was being harassed online after the accusations.

The inquest heard that a 19-year-old urged the teenager to kill himself.

She had no worries on the night before he died, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and teasing".

She portrayed him as a "caring, loving" boy, and said her "relatives is completely shattered".

He had been "obviously hiding his concerns", she stated, adding that he could not stand to have anybody "think bad of him".

School Response

The hearing received testimony from school staff at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys talking that Kai had been detained and that was the first I learned".

"He informed me... he'd was innocent," she continued.

After the discussion, the educator said she called the family's parents' landline and left a voicemail saying she had spoken to the student about the allegations.

The proceedings learned his parents said they did not receive that message.

Official Conclusion

Lead coroner told the hearing he would await documents regarding what improvements had been made to handling individuals with ADHD, before determining whether he should make a avoidance of subsequent fatalities report.

Providing a narrative conclusion, he stated: "Around 8 November 2021, unsupported allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old individual.

"Probably untruths were subsequently exaggerated and exaggerated through the platform of online networks.

"On 11 November, he was questioned by the police and after his questioning he was released whilst inquiries proceeded."

The official concluded: "There is no proof that the actions or omissions of any organization caused or contributed to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal action it is impossible to determine his intent."
