Throughout the early hours of Thursday, there was scant happiness in Gaza. Reports of the imminent ceasefire had circulated quickly across the devastated territory in the dark hours, with a few gunshots discharged heavenward to express relief, but as morning came the atmosphere turned to tense anticipation.
