Colts Face Falcons in German Capital – NFL Week 10
Guten tag, fussball fans. How are you? Alles klar I hope on this excellent morning kickoff to week 10 coming straight outta Deutschland. Berlin's Olympic Stadium to be exact where at 8.30am CST/9.30am EST and 2.30pm GMT the mighty Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Falcons (3-5). The fifth game played on German soil and the initial in the capital city.
Pre-match Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A slight fluff from Sky Sports there as we hear “who won the toss?” from the commentator with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the coin toss went to Indianapolis and have chosen to get the ball first. Daniel Jones and company will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a rough one in Pittsburgh?
Not to be outdone the vocalist performing the US national anthem has some of the biggest shoulder embellishments you are ever likely to see. Loving the sartorial choices today. The game is about to start after a choir performance for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.
First Quarter Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have an exciting start after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right then loses the ball … only for his center to recover the fumble with the ball retrieval. Colts are in Falcons territory already.
Still scoreless at 10:51
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The risk doesn't work out as Josh Downs fails to catch a fastball from Jones. On the play before the turnover on downs the Falcons defender put a huge hit on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they attempt to end their three-game losing streak. Next up Sauce Garner’s debut!
Score Updates
TOUCHDOWN! Colts 6-0 Falcons 8:36, 1st quarter
Did Kyle Pitts just drop a touchdown? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That play rather sums up the high draft pick's professional journey to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Atlanta as they turn over possession to the Indianapolis on the 23-yard mark. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
An agile 22-yard rush from Ashton Dulin sets the running back up to roll in for the score on the next snap. Kicker Michael Badgley misses the point after attempt. Mistake.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. The wide receiver makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the defense opens up for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the heart of the field for 13 yards. He completes the drive for a one-yard touchdown of his own. Advantage Atlanta.
