Check out 29 Fresh Game Cards from Magic's TMNT Set (Including a Commander Precon Deck!)

Everyone's beloved pizza-loving heroes are making their way to the popular trading card game. The well-known trading card game's company, Wizards of the Coast, announced a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration at a special event held at NYCC. Could this be a radical new set or yet another crossover marketing move? Let you decide.

Take a look below at all the details announced from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles collaboration, along with some useful background. All items mentioned below releases on March 6th, 2026, with one exception — a special Pizza Bundle arrives a couple of weeks after on March 27th.

MTG x TMNT: Main Set Cards

Before we get into all the various special decks and bundles on offer, let’s take a look at all the cards from the core Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion that were revealed by Wizards. Play boosters for the expansion are priced at $6.99 each, while premium boosters are priced at $37.99 per pack.

Let’s explore a few surprising features. To begin, there's a new mechanic called Sneak, inspired by the pre-existing Ninjutsu, where gamers can play powerful creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacker isn’t blocked. The key change in this case is that this new ability can apply to non-creature spells as well. Wizards also used this chance to refine the ability a little (Sneak is treated as casting, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu is staying, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in upcoming expansions from now on.

“If we ever were to return to the Kamigawa plane, it’s possible we’d use the original ability since that plane is it originated and it’s a hallmark of that world,” a senior game designer explained. “But on other planes, since the mechanics are smoother and the new ability is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable that we'd use the updated version.”

Another version of Leonardo, Sewer Samurai, is among four cards with unique artwork designed specifically for the set by TMNT original artist the co-creator.

Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever, which lets you play game cards that aren't in your main deck, many players were. Yet as per the developers, that's now a legal card in every format of Magic.

In any case, here are the highly unusual full-art lands from this set:

As per Wizards of the Coast's existing guidelines, these cards are all legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers state they took care to make sure the cards and gameplay elements worked smoothly with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.

“I headed the development for over a year and we were aware it was going to be Standard-legal and which sets would be alongside it in Standard,” a lead designer commented. “Our goal was to make sure that they work well with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”

As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a Izzet archetype focused on artifacts.

“They combine to provide the components for a enjoyable Standard deck,” the designer added.

Preconstructed Commander: Turtle Power!

After declining to create any Commander precons for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender expansions, the company is reversing course with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. This time it’s just a single precon, but it includes six distinct legendary creatures that can serve as your Commander depending on how you pair them (five cards have a special partner ability called “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command area rather than just one). Take a look below:

This Commander deck is set at $69.99, though that could easily go up based on popularity. Wizards told that it contains 43 brand-new cards in total, which means an extra 37 Turtle-themed game cards in addition to the six legendary commanders shown above. (Calculating roughly, that also means about 20 reprints if we estimate the precon includes 37 lands.)

What will the Turtles edition of the iconic Sol Ring look like? We’ll just have to wait and find out.

TMNT Bundle (Standard Edition)

As per usual, Wizards is selling a bundle. This one is priced at $69.99 and contains the following:

  • 9 Standard Boosters
  • Fifteen Foil land cards
  • 15 Non-foil land cards
  • Two Reference cards
  • One Traditional foil promotional card
  • 1 Large life tracker
  • One Card-storage box

Pizza-Themed Bundle

Here’s a unique concept for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it is packaged in a box resembling a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and includes the following:

  • Nine Play Boosters
  • 1 Premium Booster
  • 25 Regular pizza lands
  • Five Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
  • Two Foil pizza bundle promo cards
  • 2 Reference cards
  • 1 Oversized spindown life counter
  • 1 Card-storage box

For those curious what a “Pizza Bundle promo card” is, it’s basically a reprinted older card with all-new Turtle-themed artwork. The team showed an example for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter adding black licorice pieces on a pizza. In total, there are six distinct pizza promos in total.

This special bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.

Draft Bundle

This unique product is designed for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:

  • 12 Play Boosters (ideal for four people to play draft)
  • One Premium Booster (aka, the reward for winning)
  • Ninety Non-foil land cards (for building your draft deck)
  • 10 Regular token cards
  • 1 drafting guide (a one-sheet guide to drafting this expansion)

Turtle Team-Up

Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as in line with its continued initiative to develop Magic products aimed at beginners. Here, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that let you and a friend team up to face a “Boss” enemy deck that pilots itself.

The general idea is that every Boss card gives special abilities to the creatures included in the boss deck. The Boss automatically plays one other card per turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
