Passenger services have resumed at Scotland's primary international airport after a major ATC system failure brought the international hub to a standstill.

All aircraft movements were suspended after an IT issue that was reported at approximately 08:30.

Several flyers found themselves stranded in jets at the stand while the issue persisted.

Services Recommence with Residual Impact

A statement indicated at 10:40 that operations had restarted, and thanked passengers for their "understanding and cooperation".

That said, ongoing issues are likely to affect schedules. Flights to London Gatwick, Bristol, Amsterdam and Frankfurt have been cancelled, with many others subject to postponements.

An airport representative had initially projected that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be impacted.

"Travelers are urged to get in touch with their carrier for the most up-to-date details on their booked journeys," the statement added.

Source of the Issue

Officials linked the operational halt to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.

Flyers continue to be advised to verify the schedule of their journey before traveling to the hub as residual delays are worked through.
